Laure-Catherine Beyers is a Belgian soprano, currently based in Austria, celebrated for her powerful, expressive voice and her deep commitment to storytelling through music. Most recently, she made her debut as Eurydice in the Austrian premiere of Manfred Trojahn’s Eurydice, die Liebenden, blind in Vienna with Neue Oper Wien, under the baton of Walter Kobéra and the Tonkünstler Orchestra. Her performance was met with enthusiastic acclaim for its psychological depth and vocal intensity.
Deeply invested not only in interpretation but also in creating her own theatrical formats, Laure-Catherine recently collaborated with Serbian set designer Hana Ramujkić to develop a staged version of Peter Maxwell Davies’ a cappella mono-opera The Medium, presented at Theaterhaus Graz and the BCV Concert Hall in Lausanne, and coached by German director Ingo Kerkhof. The Grazer Kleine Zeitung press headlined its review “Drama für eine Stimme” and described her performance as “überzeugend nicht nur stimmlich, sondern auch schauspielerisch” (convincing not only vocally, but also dramatically), praising her ability to sustain the psychological intensity of the work and to command the stage single-handedly.
Together with Serbian pianist Ana Ostojić, Laure-Catherine forms Duo Ardea, an ensemble dedicated to exploring the intersection of tradition, innovation and performative possibilities in art song and chamber music. The duo has gained international recognition, winning First Prize at the IVC Theatre in Song 2025 in ’s-Hertogenbosch and becoming prizewinners of the International Chamber Music Competition “Franz Schubert and Modern Music 2025” in Graz. Their program Echoes beyond the Body, the Duino Elegies, inspired by the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, has been selected for the Rhône Festival in Brig (Switzerland), where they performed it in November 2025.
A passionate advocate for contemporary and 20th-century repertoire, Laure-Catherine has a particular affinity for the music of the Second Viennese School. Her recent performances include Schönberg’s Erwartung at the Arnold Schönberg Center in Vienna, Pierrot Lunaire at the IMPULS Festival in Graz, Alban Berg’s Sieben frühe Lieder with Joseph Bastian and the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, and Drei Bruchstücke aus Wozzeck with Marius Stieghorst and the AIMS Festival Orchestra in Graz.
She has been recognized in numerous international competitions, including as a finalist in the Helmut Deutsch Lied Competition (2019), recipient of the Gérard Souzay Prize for French Mélodie in New York (2019), and Second Prize winner at the Meistersinger Competition of the AIMS Festival in Graz (2024).
Upcoming engagements include the Slovenian premiere of Nina Šenk’s chamber opera Canvas (2023) with the Slovenian Chamber Music Theatre Company in a cooperation with Cankarjev Dom in Ljubljana, Opera Maribor and Piccolo Opera Festival in Italy, as well as the world premiere of Maximiliano Soto Mayorga’s opera Xochiyaoyotl at the Münchner Biennale and Styriarte 2026. Another Highlight of this Season will be Duo Ardea’s first CD recording with the Graz based Label Murmers in Graz with a release concert following in the fall of 2026 at the Minoritensaal in Graz.
Previous seasons have brought her to major venues such as the Vienna Musikverein, Halle E in Vienna’s Museumsquartier, Opéra de Lausanne, and the Salle Métropole in Lausanne, as well as international festivals including La Semaine du Neuf in Montreal, the Vienna Kultursommer Festival, and the Mostra Sonora Festival in Spain.
In recent summers, Laure-Catherine has been a vocal fellow at Songfest at Colburn (2019), participated in the Music Academy of the West (2020, online), and served as artist-in-residence at the Indemini Festival in Switzerland (2021, 2022), IMPULS Festival in Graz (2023) and AIMS in Graz (2024).
Currently, Laure-Catherine is pursuing a Master’s degree in Contemporary Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, studying under Holger Falk and Anna Sushon. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin and a Master Soliste (Concert Exam) degree from HEMU Lausanne, where her recital performances earned her two major prizes.
